Registered nurses on site

Nursing homes have registered nurses on duty and are registered with CQC for nursing care. They suit people with clinical needs such as complex wounds, tube feeding, ventilation support or advanced conditions.

Check the specific clinical need

Ask directly whether the home currently supports the specific need — not whether it could in principle. Ask how many staff are trained in it and what the escalation route is overnight.

NHS-funded nursing care

Some people in nursing homes qualify for an NHS contribution towards the nursing element of their care. Check current eligibility and rates with the NHS rather than the home.
